Accountants are a lot more than just number crunchers. Depending on the size and configuration of the organization will determine how defined the accountant's job description will be. For example, you could have a general ledger accountant, tax accountant, cost accountant all within the accounting department. 

You can get even more defined within the specific roles if the organization demands it. For most organizations, they will prepare financial reports such as profit and loss, assets, etc. As the organization grows the more specific the candidate you will need to recruit for. Focusing on what skills you need and what skills can be taught will help expedite your fill time.
